Bishop Donal Murray has been involved in the ethics of health care in various capacities in Ireland, and abroad for many years. He taught in Clonliffe College and the Mater Dei Institute, Dublin. In addition, he gave lectures on ethics to medical students and Catechetics, mostly to teachers, in University College Dublin.
Dr Murray completed licentiate and doctoral studies in the University of St Thomas (the Angelicum) in Rome. His obtained a BA and MA in philosophy from UCD. Dr. Murray was Auxiliary Bishop of Dublin from 1982, until 1996, when He became Bishop of Limerick. Dr Murray is now retired.
